Introduction to Trigger Point Acupuncture ("Dry Needling")

Trigger point acupuncture, also known as "dry needling" in other professions, is an approach that can be utilized alone or in conjunction with a Traditional Eastern Medicine approach. Utilizing western anatomy, kinesiology, and orthopedics, point selection is made and to treat sports injuries and movement dysfunctions.

 

We will discuss the anatomy of each muscle covered in the course including Origin, Insertion, Action, and relevant tests. We will also cover the trigger points in these muscles, their referral patterns and when it may be useful to needle these trigger points. Muscles covered in this course include:
 

External Obliques Sub Occipital (Rectus Capitis Posterior Major and Minor, Obliquus Capitis Inferior and Superior), Trapezius (Upper Trap Focus), Levator Scapulae, Infraspinatus, QL, Glute Medius, Vastus Lateralus, Gastrocnemius, Peroneal, Brachioradialis, Biceps Brachii, Triceps, Latissimus Dorsi.

Advanced Trigger Point Needling for the Shoulder

We will discuss the anatomy of each muscle covered in the course including Origin, Insertion, Action, and relevant tests. We will also cover the trigger points in these muscles, their referral patterns and when it may be useful to needle these trigger points.

 

Muscles covered in this course include:

 

Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, Teres Major, Subscapularis, Deltoids, Pectoralis, Rhomboid, Lower Trapezius, and Serratus Anterior.

After completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Detailed review of shoulder anatomy
  • Kinesiology of the shoulder
  • Assessment of the shoulder including postural analysis, orthopedics and movement assessment
  • Review of Common shoulder pathologies
  • Treatment of shoulder conditions using trigger point dry needling, manual therapy, kinesiotaping (RockTape!), and exercise therapy

Acupuncture Point Injection Training

This 30 hour multi weekend course will prepare you to confidently and safely begin including injection therapy into your practice. This course focuses on a Sports and Pain Management approach. It is recommended that a strong base in anatomy is present for the content of this course. We will discuss and practice preparation, storage, and injecting a variety of solutions including vitamins and homeopathic remedies. Intra Oral Massage Course

This 16 hour course discusses the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of TMJD. It will focus on treatment options based on orthopedic assessment of a client with a focus on intra oral techniques.
